You see, we are valued by God, the gospel is valuable. We don't have to devalue ourselves or the gospel ...whenever we minister to people. So, if we've given our heart to minister and shared the gospel the best way we can, then if we are not accepted or have been rejected, then we just move on. We don't have to feel down, we must not think that there is something wrong with us or the gospel. We move on because there are others who need us and the gospel.
And also, we should not be dependent on the hearers but on God to provide, we should not be dependent on our hearers for affirmation. Many times, people bowed down to the hearers because they are dependent on some kind of natural support from their hearers or for some kind of affirmation. God provides, and God affirms us. We move on. We are not devalued simply because there wasn't acceptance. We do not cave-in upon rejection. We move on because God values us and there are others who will value us. Not all seeds fall on good ground. But there are good ground out there who needs you.
"Shaking the dust of your sandals" means do not let the past rejection to pull you down or hamper you. Move On. Take back the blessing you have because you are the carrier of the gospel which save and deliver, and give that blessing to someone else who will be saved and delivered. Do not let your past rejection fix you on your tracks. The dust of your past, the dust which represents the memory of your past, the dust which represents the bad experiences of sharing the gospel in the past, should be left behind and forgotten. There are more waiting who need to be saved. Move ahead. Amen.
