Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:11)
Dying to self also means we stop trying. We rest fully, entirely on the finished work of the cross. We’ve been set free from sin at the cross. That Jesus thoroughly finished the work, the redemptive work of saving us from sin and setting us free from sin.
We are resting completely. This takes total trust. We want to be holy. God knows that. The struggle now is to relinquish control. The result is a divine miraculous spiritual restfulness that is not from this world. It is impossible to sin at this state.
Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God. (1 John 3:9)
God wants us to arrive at this state and to stay at this state in the midst of the storms of life and the ambushes of temptation.
Trust in the Lord, now.
