It is incorrect to say, as they commonly do: “God accepts who we are”. We will be anything, anyone, at any one point of time. It will mean that God accepts everything and everyone, regardless.
While God’s love is never bias; to render God by this statement, is to say that He is without taste and without preference. It is to strip Him of personality. Or, at worse, it is to strip Him of His divinity, of His rights to make judgments.
Truth is God accepts us because we belong to Him. A person can chose to be a child of God by believing in Jesus Christ and what He has done at the cross, thus having the power to be a child of God, thereby gaining God’s acceptance by the grace which has been provided. God accepts us, no matter how little or how much we perform, because we belong to Him.
Why would I find comfort in self-acceptance when I can find acceptance in God Himself? Why would I settle for the inferior when I can have that which is superior?
IDENTITY is a fundamental key to victory. The more revelation of our identity, the more victory we have, in becoming the person that God wants us to be.
