Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despise prophecies. Test all things; hold fast what is good. (1 Thessalonians 5:19-21)
I was given prophecies which were so positive and affirming. While I didn’t deserve such words, they were genuinely from God. They confirmed with what God was showing me, or God himself showed me things on a later date which confirmed the earlier prophecies.
Even so, beware of prophecies which invite you to ride on an ego trip. God has been speaking to you since day one. God is not the author of confusion. God doesn’t change His mind out-of-the-blue. When one is down-and-out, one tends to grab the first lifeline offered, to remove oneself from the present seemingly hopeless situation. A chance to alter one’s destiny is so tempting. In the human nature, we are usually not inclined to test such prophecies. But I beseech you to think differently.
At the moment of weakness, the devil offered Jesus the world to thwart the destiny ordained by God. Do not allow God’s plan for you be hijacked. Test every prophecy.
