Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the LORD, The Creator of the ends of the earth, Neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall, But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint. (Isaiah 40:28-31; underline mine)
The primary root meanings of the original Bible Hebrew word for `wait’; in the above portion of scripture, are `collect’ and `to expect’.
It means to wait until all the pieces of the jigsaw puzzle fall into place as God releases each of them. It also means to really expect all the pieces to fall into place by the hand, and the design of God, in God’s time. It is letting God arrange the pieces of our life. We will then have the cumulative strength, the synergy, of all the different pieces. It is waiting for God to complete them in our life. And we wait in expectation because God has promised, and He will fulfill it.
It means to take time to wait and gather together all the strength, that is needed, which will be given by God …before you make your move. This is the wise course of action.
The eagle, at a stand-still waiting position, waits for the right wind, with sufficient strength, before it mounts up its wings and catches the draft for its flight. You need the sense of timing by spending time in God's presence.
