Anoint Our Eyes
Acts 10:31
So Cornelius said, “Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing, and said, ‘Cornelius, your prayer has been heard, and your alms are remembered in the sight of God. (Acts 10:31)
Are you willing to pray for someone, for a church or for a ministry when no one knows you are praying? Not another soul heard you praying. Not another knows about it. You are willing. Why? Because you know that God hears you!
Someday, the one who is blessed by your prayer will know, or will never know, about your praying. It doesn’t matter. Because great is your reward in heaven.
I don’t mind saying that some unknown intercessors will be rewarded better than some famous preachers. There will be great surprises in heaven!
“And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. (Matthew 6:5-6)
I want to encourage you intercessors. The Father will reward you, not only in heaven, but also on earth. Look for the Father’s reward. Let the Father reward you openly like He did for Cornelius. Let it be done by Him, in His way.
When God reward you, it’s the best. When men by themselves reward you, it’s half-empty or it’s half-full. It’s neither here nor there. Whether you are a pessimist or an optimist, it’s still half. It’s half-contentment. It’s half-satisfaction. It’s half.
Are you willing to give without seeing acknowledgement or gratitude? Are you willing to give to the poor who will not be able to repay you nor remember you? You give as you give to God. Only God sees. And that’s your reward.
Let us be freed from the chronic habitual seeking to be recognized and repaid by people.
“Take heed that you do not do your charitable deeds before men, to be seen by them. Otherwise you have no reward from your Father in heaven. Therefore, when you do a charitable deed, do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory from men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, that your charitable deed may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly. (Matthew 6:1-4)
There is a blessed type of people who looks for the Father’s reward. Man’s reward will not satisfy them. They can see into heaven, and knows that heaven’s rewards exceed even the highest earthly rewards.
On earth, they look for the Father’s blessing. They trust their Father God. They have a high esteem of their Father God. THEY KNOW that God is the best at blessing. To them, human-origin accolades pale in comparison. They could see the difference between gold and wood; the difference between silver and hay; and the difference between precious stones and straw.
Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is. If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. (1 Corinthians 3:12-14)
May God anoint our eyes to see beyond our self-conditioned limited horizon, and to see over the darkly grayish barbed wall of pure humanistic motivation, inclination, perspective, methods and endeavors.
that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, (Ephesians 1:17-18)
May God anoint our eyes with eye salve …the divine healing ointment!
Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked— I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. (Revelation 3:17-18)
May God grant us drops of His spiritual `Eyemore’ so that we can see clearly!
