1. Draws Us Close To God
When prophecies come true, we are excited because it shows the reality of God.
When prophecies are given, we are awed that God is thinking about our future.
The prophetic anointing will be present. This anointing will be felt because the 4-fold prophet will bring the prophetic anointing down. This anointing itself will manifest the closeness and reality of God.
For example, Dr. Vernon Falls.
Remember North symbolized the prophet – it is symbolic upwards where God is, His throne is in heaven.
• The Heart Of God
Prophecies reveal the heart of God, not just information about the future. If you study the prophecies written in the Bible, do read between the lines (look beyond the first impression), and you will see the heart of God revealed.
• The Goodness Of God
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. (Jeremiah 29:11-13; underlining mine)
The word `prophet’ in Bible Greek is defined as `foreteller who predicts the future’. From the above scripture (Jeremiah 29:11-13); we know that God is good, and He cares for our future, and His ultimate aim is to draw us close to Him.
Acts 11:27-30
Agabus the prophet, foretold of a famine. The prophecy was acted upon, and the believers in Judea were actually helped by the prophecy.
Many times, prophesies are not prayed over and acted upon. We keep prophecies in religious showcase shelf – nice to look at, for further reference, for record …and that’s all!
How many people actually prayed and discussed prophecies with the intent of actually following them if they are deemed of God. The reason we test prophecies is not merely to classify whether true or false, but with the purpose of implementation if they are genuinely of God!
Agabus was a 4-fold prophet of the Ephesians Group level. Notice the difference in the level of authority when compared to the prophets who had to wait and speak-up in turn as in 1 Corinthians 14:29-31.
The prophecy of the famine demonstrated God’s goodness to His people.
• The Will Of God
Yet, prophets or prophecies did not help them to avert all persecutions and martyrdoms. Stephen was martyred. James was martyred. When they died for the gospel, it shows to people that there is something in the gospel that is worth dying for.
for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. (2 Peter 1:21)
Prophets and prophecies move in the will of God. Prophets and prophecies are subject to the will of God.
Mature and seasoned prophets will purpose themselves to say what God wants them to say – and not to go beyond that. They learned not to prophesy without the prophetic anointing.
Example, Agabus, after he had given the prophecy, did not try to persuade Paul not to go up Jerusalem (Acts 21:10-15). We find out later that it was indeed God’s will for Paul to go to Jerusalem (Acts 23:11).
Balaam was corrupted but repented before he started prophesying on Israel (Numbers chapters 22 – 24).
Beware of greedy prophets.
2. Creates Interest In The Spirit Realm
Eages Fly High And Soar As They Are Carried By The Draft Of The Air, prophets go high in the spirit realm through the Holy Spirit.
Apostle-prophet John was also a true-blue prophet as you read his prophecies in the Book of Revelation. You see that he goes high in the spirit realm.
We are ministered by the prophets, not just in prophecies. Ephesians 4:11-16 tells us that The Ministry Of Prophets go beyond prophecy.
We are a prophetic people waiting for Bible prophecies to unfold and in particular the return of Jesus.
The apostle-prophets ground us in certain truths. The prophets impart and carry us into the prophetic realm. They help us to be a prophetic people as God meant us to be. They make us aware of the reality of the spirit realm and show us.
3. Deals With Intents And Motives
Eagles Can See The Prey From High Up In The Sky, Targets And Zoom-in
And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts; (2 Peter 1:19)
Agabus’ prophecy to Paul was in line with Jesus’ teaching that we ought to count the cost before committing ourselves. Agabus’ prophecy was to confront and challenge. Paul needed to prepare himself for the persecution ahead by counting the cost. Paul had to ready himself to pay the price in prayer and by surrendering himself totally to the Lord. Paul can’t be half-committed when persecution comes and then fail. Agabus’ prophecy was also a test.
Sometimes prophecies are meant to test us. So, let’s not go after prophecies. Go after God, and prophecies will go after us.
