John 7:14-18; Acts 4:13; Matthew 16:17-18
• Revelation is more essential than academic (the church was built on revelation)
• Motive is more important than content (please refer to my next devotional e-mail for a clearer explanation)
Initially, I planned to do three more gifts of the Corinthians group: gifts of healings, the working of miracles and prophecy.
And I shared with Bro Mani about Abraham who could have killed Isaac but it wasn’t God’s plan (even though Abraham believed that God could raise Isaac from the dead). Abraham did not kill Isaac because he heard God the second time. Abraham did not shut his ears after he heard God the first time. The emphasis is to practice continual hearing of God. Not to be too set after we hear God the first time. Not to jump the gun. Uncle Mani can testify to the lesson he learned in a real life situation that is connected to this story. But this story is part of the teaching on prophecy.
Instead of being set to do three gifts, we will do one by one and see how it goes.
Gifts Of Healings
`gifts’ and `healings’ – these two words are plural
Different dimensions of healing
soul (psychologically and emotionally) i.e. inner and mental healing: John Sandford
body
Different types of healing
Specialization: blind, mute, crippled, bone diseases, blood diseases and etc.
Is divine healing, more of a sign or more of a benefit?
Mark 16:15-18 - a sign to confirm the gospel
John 9:1-3 - a sign of the works of God
While health is a divine benefit, the sign serves the greater good (Acts 10:38; Matthew 5:16).
What is the difference between divine healing and health professionals?
“by His stripes we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5)
“Who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?” (Isaiah 53:1)
Why are we learning this? It has to do with our focus.
How can two walk together unless they agree? Two different directions mean going further apart. (Amos 3:3)
Once we exercise our faith based on God’s perspective and focus, we will have more divine healings. Once we are aligned with God, we will have more divine healings.
We need to have proper perspective. A quality of spiritual maturity is being able to balanced the different perspectives and know what is God’s priority.
You need spiritual maturity to minister the gifts of healings.
God is to be glorified.
The gospel is to be advanced.
God loves to heal because He is love. He is good. But it is a temporary measure because we will still die one day. A good old age is short compared to eternity. God’s priority is to glorify Himself and to bring people to heaven on a permanent basis.
Yes, I think it is right, as long as I am in this tent, to stir you up by reminding you, knowing that shortly I must put off my tent, just as our Lord Jesus Christ showed me. (2 Peter 1:13-14)
The spiritual need of humanity is greater than the physical need even though the physical is important. God’s priority is spirit, soul and body. As it is often said, the greatest miracle is the miracle of salvation.
When people of God claim healing, many times they are self-centered and carnal. They need to put God first and offer themselves as God’s instrument to heal others, a living sacrifice for His service (Romans 12:1-2).
