In this age of quick and fast, we want things easily and instantly. Same goes with the spiritual ...we are ready to devour when it is hand-fed. May we persist to find our way, breaking through the barrier, to getting revelations from the Bible.
Ethiopian Eunuch
Acts 8:26-39
Now an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip, saying, “Arise and go toward the south along the road which goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.” This is desert. So he arose and went. And behold, a man of Ethiopia, a eunuch of great authority under Candace the queen of the Ethiopians, who had charge of all her treasury, and had come to Jerusalem to worship, (Acts 8:26-27)
The Lord sent an angel and delivered an instruction to Philip. Usually, an angelic manifestation such as this; marked the importance of the occasion or assignment.
I was wondering why God seemed to have taken a special interest in this Ethiopian eunuch. Was it strategic for the spreading of the gospel because this eunuch was high-up in the Ethiopian government?
I did a little research and found-out that the church history in Ethiopia began in the 4th century with the shipwreck of Frumentius and Aedesius who were washed ashore and taken to the royal palace.

This was more-or-less 300 years after this eunuch believed in the gospel. Now it is pretty firm to me that there wasn't a national strategic purpose for the expansion gospel in Ethiopia as far as the above said divine intervention is concerned.
So it must be that God's special grace was specifically shown towards this eunuch who was searching the scriptures. His heart was devoted and opened towards God. And God sent the mighty evangelist Philip for this Ethiopian eunuch.
The Bible says that the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him (2 Chronicles 16:9).
was returning. And sitting in his chariot, he was reading Isaiah the prophet. Then the Spirit said to Philip, “Go near and overtake this chariot.” So Philip ran to him, and heard him reading the prophet Isaiah, and said, “Do you understand what you are reading?” (Acts 8:28-30)
This Ethiopian eunuch was reading the scriptures. He was a seeker of God. This is evident in the fact that he had traveled afar all the way to Jerusalem to worship God. He was also seeking God through the scriptures.
My friend Ronnie expressed to me his heartfelt conviction as he was fully convinced that reading the Bible is utmost essential to a Christian. We both agreed, sadly, generally in the existing church-at-large is that very few is reading the Bible – systematically, devotionally and faithfully.
Philip, the mighty evangelist who preached to multitudes, was sent by God to ONE man.
The favor of God is on those who is seeking God …and reading the Bible.
