Like most teenagers growing-up, I had a desire to be significant. I wanted to prove my worth. Later as a Christian, I wanted to mean something to this world.
Many strive to leave behind a legacy. Those at the pinnacle of their accomplishment; want people to remember them for it. When age catches up, folks will ordinarily think for their posterity.
Goodness
We want to be significant because we experienced the goodness of God. We want to share that goodness. We can’t help but to be good to others because we are being caught by the goodness of God.
We need to share our divine testimony to others. We need to help people by using the blessings that God has given us.
We are to be significant for God. This world is in deep darkness, hollow and empty. People are lost due to the absence of God in their heart. They need to know that God wants to come into their life and change them for the better.
Glory
When people see the goodness of God through our behavior, words and deeds - they will glorify God - if we tell them that it is God who caused us to be, to do and to go - in such a way. We tell them of the goodness of God.
One of God’s desires is that this earth be filled with His glory: filled with people of God proclaiming the glory of God.
We ought to point others to God rather than taking some of the glory. We carry the name of God. Our significance has a divine trademark to it.
Gifting
To be significant for Him, God has given us gifting, in which, we will have the extra edge, the extra capacity and the extra ability – to be effective for Him.
Do you know that you can share your gift of eternal life with others? We can multiply ourselves.
Do you know that God has other gifting which has been planned for you, such as the baptism of the Holy Spirit so that you can powerfully speak for God (if you haven’t got already)?
Do you know that God wants to give you other gifting as well?
Some gifting is so natural that you wouldn’t think it is a gifting from God. Most times, your friends and fellow Christians are the ones who will notice your gifting even when you haven’t.
So you need to go far to explore your gifting. You need to use your gifting and excel in it. You got to go to the maximum, be tenacious whatever the circumstance and be faithful in exercising your gifting.
Your gifting is the divine tool that God uses for His glory.
People
God’s heart has always been people. God is love. God so loved the world that He gave Jesus Christ, so that people can be saved.
Our significance is centered on people. What we do for God …our activity, contribution, project …has to zero-in on people.
We have to have this divine care for people around us, and a divine sensor to be sensitive to the nature and needs of people. Finally it is about people. Let’s realize this.
Perspective
The finish line, the endgame, is when we are taken from this earth. The prize giving, the award presentation, is when we see Jesus face-to-face and He say to us, “Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.” (Matthew 25:21)
Let’s have this divine circumspect in view when we decide on the agendas of life.
Let’s match and compare what we are doing in light of eternity.
God has an eternal perspective. We are to be like accountants wearing spiritual spectacles, weighing our options with eternity in mind.
We need to see the near in relative to the far and vise versa in the divine scope of time - both microscopic and telescopic.
Purpose
God has a customized purpose tailor-made for each individual. God does have a specific long term plan for us in our earthly tenure.
This divine purpose propels us. This divine purpose guides us. This divine purpose will give us divine clarity.
We have a divine satellite in the sky: Who can picture the whole lay-out of our life and Who can zoom-in to the particular areas in our life which need adjustment, modification or rectification.
In geographical locating and directing, we have the GPS (Global Positioning System) device using the network of satellites, computers and receivers. We have the spiritual GPS (God’s Positioning System) device inside of us.
Let’s seek after God’s personal observation for our life. Let’s continually seek God for His plan and map-out our life.
