Oil For The Light: Energy And Visibility
Olive oil was utilized for light. Light illuminates. It was the olive oil that provided for the light.
Where are we looking for light and illumination? Some spontaneously refer to books or the internet. Some automatically ask their close and trusted friends. Some pick their own gurus. But God wants us to look to Him for light. He wants us to look vertically. Even the Bible by itself, without the Holy Spirit, cannot help us. Men will attempt to offer us understanding. But God is the source of all truth.
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6)
But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me. (John 15:26)
Olive oil was the fuel for the light. Without burning, there wouldn’t be any light. Olive oil provided the energy for it. We have emotional energies, drive and passion. We have mental energies, concentration and creativity. We have an assortment of human energies. Why don’t we give them all to God?
What energizes us? What fuels us? The olive oil was symbolic of the anointing, power, energy of the Holy Spirit.
that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, (Ephesians 1:17-18)
The spirit of wisdom and revelation, the anointing of the Holy Spirit, the spiritual olive oil – will enlighten us.
that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, (Ephesians 3:16-20)
What are we to be powered by? What are we to be driven by? It is the power, the anointing, of the Holy Spirit working within us. When it happens, we will be driven by the faith of God, and by the love of God.
Let us give our emotional energy to the Lord. Let us give our self-motivation and self-determination to the Lord. Let us give our human passion to the Lord. The Holy Spirit will pour the anointing of His love into us (Romans 5:5).
When the olive fruit was crushed, olive oil was obtained. At certain times of life, we have to be crushed of our self-sufficiency, our self-ambition, our self-purpose …so that we will thirst and hunger for God’s power …and then …God will use us for His glory.
“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. (Matthew 5:14-16)
In order to be a light shining to others, we cannot be a habitual hermit or perpetually isolate ourselves. We must be willing to be visible for the Lord.
“Let me be a light shining in the darkness …for You, Lord.”
Spices For The Anointing Oil And For The Sweet Incense: Ecstasy And Testimony
The spices exuded a unique and special fragrant. God wants to be unique to us. He does not want to be like any other.
And the Lord said to Moses: “Take sweet spices, stacte and onycha and galbanum, and pure frankincense with these sweet spices; there shall be equal amounts of each. You shall make of these an incense, a compound according to the art of the perfumer, salted, pure, and holy. And you shall beat some of it very fine, and put some of it before the Testimony in the tabernacle of meeting where I will meet with you. It shall be most holy to you. But as for the incense which you shall make, you shall not make any for yourselves, according to its composition. It shall be to you holy for the LORD. Whoever makes any like it, to smell it, he shall be cut off from his people.” (Exodus 30:34-38)
The spices were meant for God’s enjoyment. In order for God to enjoy us, we need to give Him all our enjoyments. What do you enjoy in life? Food? Entertainment? Hobby? Sports? Socializing? Work? Career? Business? Ministry? Family?
Do you want God to enjoy you? What happens when you become His enjoyment? He becomes your enjoyment in life! Hallelujah! It will be pure ecstasy, of which, no pill can match! You will be so close to God that He will become your friend. And you will have hearty counsel!
Ointment and perfume delight the heart, And the sweetness of a man’s friend gives delight by hearty counsel. (Proverbs 27:9)
There are people that God do not feel like talking to them. They will not have God’s sweetness upon them. They are Christians. But God speaks very little to them. They do not have God’s full advice and guidance in life. Consequently, they do not have God’s full blessings.
God has a good plan for you. Do not miss it! To truly, sincerely search Him with all your heart; you will need to be willing let-go of all other enjoyments. When you delight yourself in the Lord, He will give you the things that will satisfy the very desires of your heart (Psalm 37:4). You will have more answered prayers than ever before!
It doesn’t mean that all other enjoyments are wrong, but God wants to be your No. 1 enjoyment …and He wants to enjoy you! When God is your No. 1 enjoyment, then you are willing to let-go other enjoyments for His sake. Not only that, God wants to share your other enjoyments as well. He wants to be fully part of your other enjoyments.
Is it possible to enjoy God? Of course, it is. It is a promise. You will come to a spiritual place of experiencing God. And you will truly realize the enjoyments of God Himself, and the things of God will surpass any other earthly enjoyments. You will experience God’s presence at His holy presence; you will really experience heaven and the things which of heaven such as angels; you will experience truth, goodness, results and blessings of God’s word; you will experience unique experiences of the Holy Spirit; you will experience anointing, power and miracles of the Holy Spirit in your life; and so much more.
And, the fact is, these can be all a reality to you!
Yes, our relationship with God is a total relationship.
Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place. For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing. To the one we are the aroma of death leading to death, and to the other the aroma of life leading to life. And who is sufficient for these things? (2 Corinthians 2:14-16)
How de we lead others to enjoy God when we ourselves have not truly enjoyed Him? How do others know that they can enjoy God? How do others know that God is someone Who can be enjoyable?
True enjoyment comes from our enjoyment of God. True joy comes from our enjoyment of God. True joy is from God, and it is of God.
Do I have the genuine joy of God? Can others see it when I face the turbulences of life?
Then he said to them, “Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.” (Nehemiah 8:10)
Onyx Stones, And Stones: Memory And Monumentally
And you shall put the two stones on the shoulders of the ephod as memorial stones for the sons of Israel. So Aaron shall bear their names before the LORD on his two shoulders as a memorial. (Exodus 28:12)
So Aaron shall bear the names of the sons of Israel on the breastplate of judgment over his heart, when he goes into the holy place, as a memorial before the LORD continually. And you shall put in the breastplate of judgment the Urim and the Thummim, and they shall be over Aaron’s heart when he goes in before the LORD. So Aaron shall bear the judgment of the children of Israel over his heart before the LORD continually. (Exodus 28:29-30)
Aaron was wearing the stones upon His shoulder, symbolically bearing the burden of the people of God, as he represents them before God.
Aaron was also a symbolic typology of the coming future when Jesus too is bearing our burdens as He intercedes for us at the right hand side of our Father God (Romans 8:34; Hebrews 7:25).
Aaron had to remember continually, and be conscious about it continuously, that he was representing the Lord’s people before the Lord.
Stones were used as memorials. It was one way to help the people remember what happened in the past.
Then Joshua called the twelve men whom he had appointed from the children of Israel, one man from every tribe; and Joshua said to them: “Cross over before the ark of the LORD your God into the midst of the Jordan, and each one of you take up a stone on his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Israel, that this may be a sign among you when your children ask in time to come, saying, ‘What do these stones mean to you?’ Then you shall answer them that the waters of the Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the LORD; when it crossed over the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off. And these stones shall be for a memorial to the children of Israel forever.” (Joshua 4:4-7)
Memories can be very influential. The subconscious mind shapes our personality. We are conditioned by our past exposure, upbringing, education and etc. Let us give God our memories. Let God search deep and far into our past. Let Him re-influence us. Allow Him to go there …in us.
“God…take my memories, they are yours …the good and the bad …the long forgotten memories and the most recent ones!”
In the dictionary, we will find that two of the definitions for the word `monument’ are `anything enduring that serves to commemorate or celebrate’ and `lasting reminder’.
And the word `monumental’ is defined as `extremely great, massive and permanent’. Is God monumental in our lives? What will people remember about us? What, or rather, of whom, will we be remembered for?
Will they think of God when they think about us?
