Open Door Of The Holy Spirit
Genesis 24:50-51
Then Laban and Bethuel answered and said, “The thing comes from the LORD; we cannot speak to you either bad or good. Here is Rebekah before you; take her and go, and let her be your master’s son’s wife, as the LORD has spoken.” (Genesis 24:50-51)
In the area of God’s blessings and of God's ministry, we need divine provision and divine connection, we need divine financing and divine opening.
Contrast to God’s favor in giving Rebekah to Isaac, we see Jacob’s long struggle in getting Rachel’s hand in marriage. Laban’s and Betheul’s disposition in giving Rebekah’s hand in marriage was world apart, compare with how Laban treated Jacob before eventually giving Rachel.
Jacob’s name was `supplanter’, meaning one who takes the place of someone else especially by underhand means. And that was what he did in the way he got his elder brother Esau’s birthright as the firstborn.
God finally changed Jacob’s name to Israel, the new name meaning ‘he will rule as God’ or `to prevail, to have power, as a prince of God’. So now, instead of scheming and striving; a spiritual Israel like us, exercises his authority in spiritual warfare, and exercises his spiritual identity and privilege in prayer asking God whatever needed in Jesus’ name.
A workman works for it. A businessman wheels and deals. A conniver; connives. A supplanter; supplants. A prince asks of his Father in heaven who is the Possessor of the heavens and the earth.
Since this oldest servant of Abraham, was symbolic of the Holy Spirit; the best foot forward in God’s blessings and in God's ministry, is to follow the Holy Spirit. It is the Holy Spirit who opens the door which no man can shut.
